I am a Retired Class A PGA Professional and the founder of Southern Maryland Golf Academy. More importantly, I am a dad, a coach, and someone who believes golf can change a young person’s life for the better.
I grew up on a small course in South Dakota where I learned the game by doing every job on the property—from picking the range to mowing greens. Those early years shaped my core teaching philosophy: **Keep it simple, make it fun, and help each player find confidence in their own swing.**
Junior golf is at the heart of what I do. I want young players to feel excited to come to a lesson and proud when they leave. My sessions are built around three things:
Parents often tell me their kids walk out of sessions feeling better not only about their game but about themselves. That is the part I care about most.
I earned my PGA credentials from New Mexico State University, teaching at competitive facilities in Minnesota, Chicago, Virginia, and Naples before settling in Southern Maryland.
My nearly twenty years in the United States Navy—serving in leadership roles—sharpened my communication, patience, and ability to break down complex problems in a clear, steady way. Those same skills help me coach young golfers who need structure, encouragement, and a coach who listens.
Southern Maryland is home. As a local coach for youth baseball and soccer, I know how important it is for kids to have mentors who understand them and care about their development on and off the field.
In 2022, I created Southern Maryland Golf Academy to bring a high-quality junior golf program to this area. Using a modern indoor studio and the FlightScope X3 system, I help young players learn the game the right way, build skills they can trust, and develop confidence that carries into everything they do.
Let's build their game—and their confidence—together.
